Tuesday
Juliette, Zachary, Léane, Christ, Joseph, Laurena After a very short night we boarded the ferry. Some took the opportunity to sleep, others had the pleasure of enjoying the English breakfast. [photo] (It was not necessarily to our taste but anyways). We took the bus again and enjoyed the end of the night. Then we discovered the beautiful Greenwich Observatory and its beautiful view of London. Wespent time in the Greenwich district while a few brave people crossed the London cold to reach the Isle of Dogs and its impressive buildings. [photo]. We boarded another boat, smaller, but that allowed us to see London from the Tamise, especially the London bridge. Then, after meeting with another student that took the plane to join us, we went to see the district of Westiminster, where we were lucky to see Buckingham Palace, Big Ben, and others very famous monuments of London. In the afternoon, we visited the Tate Modern after a short lunch break in a nice market next to the museum. We saw various modern and contemporary works such as short films, a radio tower and many many paintings. Once we finished our visit of the Tate, we took the bus to meet with our families. Some were lucky enough to get their families next to tottenham, while the others had to take one extra hour on the bus to finally get some rest and eat a (more or less) proper dinner

Wednesday
Elio, mya, achilles, louis, cassiopée On Wednesday, we jumped inside the bus to drive around London and some of its most famous places : we stopped by the Tower Bridge, seeing the Central Business District from afar : we walked across it, and kept on our athletic activity (walking, walking, walking. It was THE HORRENDOUS part.), then we went back into the bus that drove us to the Science Museum, in front of which we ate our picnics (shared with some friendly pigeons and a waxed apple). Then we entered the place, we had two hours to visit it, check, learn whatever interested us : there were three floors, amazingly bright and filled with plenty of objects, antities, boards of text explaining what was exposed, presented (literally the concept of a museum). We couldn’t get to see everything, and making choices in such a place regarding what we wanted to learn most felt illegal (the place really was huge) : spending half the day there would’ve been better to check everything :) |
Some of us went to the spatial part, some walked to the machines, clocks. There was an enormous space giving information about medicine and research under all its forms and all its years (well, mostly ‘round the XXth century). Going from surgery tools to clocks, satellites, tv’s, radio stations and TV’s evolution… It was fascinating and original. After the Museum and some expenses made there for our pairs, we’ve been driven to the gigantic London Eye, where we’ve got an amazing, panoramic view of the city and its surroundings… We could even see the Northern French coast overseas (just kidding !). |
Thursday
Ambrosia, Amelie, Ariane, Clara, Yasmine On Thursday, our 3rd day in London, we started the day by going to the natural history museum. This beautiful museum was very interesting and we learned a lot about nature. The architecture was also mind blowing. After this, we ate in a park next to squirrels. In the afternoon we had some free time in the centre of London, some of us visited the M&M’S and Lego store. We also found an arcade and played during an hour. After getting lost in London, we finally went back to the teachers. |
Friday
Friday, April 26 - The last day had come… The best for the end! At 10:15 we went to the National Gallery in Trafalgar Square, the most famous museum of art in London. The architecture was very sumptuous, and there was a wide diversity of paintings from all around the world like the sunflowers by Van Gogh. |
After that, we stopped in front of Buckingham Palace where we saw the iconic Kingsguard walk but even though we tried, we didn't see Charles… After this passionating shot of culture, we had a good walk and stopped at the biggest park of London, Hyde Park. To gain some energy we had lunch and then, we were ready to enjoy our free afternoon at Notting Hill. Indeed, it was a lovely little neighborhood, with a lot of charming houses and cliché stores (even a Taylor Swift one!). We had 4 hours to visit, discover and buy English souvenirs. |
